Bartlett Microphones is offering two new condenser mics for acoustic guitar and other instruments. Intended for singer/songwriters, folk and old-time groups, these tiny clip-on mics are claimed to provide a natural sound for recording or PA.
The Spark Mic comes with an 8-foot XLR cable, while the Spark Mic Pro includes an endpin jack and detachable XLR cable.
"After spending money and time acquiring a fine instrument", says owner/engineer Bruce Bartlett, "you want your audience to hear its beautiful timbre. You don't want a tinny, boomy or harsh sound. We designed these mics so the audience can hear the true sound of your guitar without coloration."
The frequency response of the Spark Mic is +/- 2 dB from 40 Hz to 20 kHz. It's an omnidirectional condenser type which requires phantom power.
A sound-hole mount is available separately on the Bartlett Microphones website. Diagrams supplied with the mics show several effective mic placements on a variety of acoustic instruments.
